Our rent is proposing the idea that we think we are free when we act freely within a system. For example, if we are Americans, we might commit an act and say that we are free because we acted within the system. However, are we actually free within the constraints of the system, or are we just acting as little pawns? This brings to mind The Lego Movie, which poses a similar question. The characters in the movie think that they are free, but soon realize that they are only acting within a system that puts constraints on what freedom really is in a particular context.
