The Crested Oclet is a small bird that smells like tangerines. It has a unique patch on its back that secretes chemicals that give off the citrusy smell. There are two hypotheses as to why this bird has evolved to smell like this: one is that the chemicals and scent repels parasites such as lice, and the other is that female birds are attracted to the scent. Either way, having a bird that smells like tangerines and can act as both bug repellent and an attraction to potential partners is quite an amazing feat of evolution!
