The ring on a chain trick

I have a metal ring and a closed loop of chain. I’m going to do this all in one take, so you know that I’m not playing any tricks. I’m going to dangle the chain and then hold the ring over it. When I drop the ring, it falls off the chain, as expected. However, if you think hard enough, you can get the ring to stick on the chain. Have a look at that! So, how does this work?
