Professor Elizabeth Leonard reminded us in the Sociology class about women who had killed abusive partners. Some students were laughing and judging these women and others in jail. Professor Leonard stopped and said, “The only difference between you and one of those people is one really bad day and maybe one really bad night or something like that.” This resonated with 19 year old Michael, who was reminded that often we build walls of difference between us and other people, but it only takes one bad day for things to go wild.
