My name is Spencer Russell and because of TikTok, I’m reaching millions of families who want to teach their toddlers how to read. On my first day of kindergarten, I was in a reading group of two. I knew I was the “dumb kid” when I decided to teach my father how to read. Part of that choice was that he’s not going to have the same experience that I had in school. I couldn’t find anything that would help, so I just made it up. No one was doing what my son could do and it’s not because he’s a specialist, because I knew how to teach him.
Because of TikTok, I am able to support myself, my family, my team, and my business in a way that I just couldn’t have done on my own. I want people to know that toddlers can read when we choose to teach them. When a kid learns how to read, doors open and they can access the world around them in a way that only readers can. I want to make sure every kid gets back to school with a book in their hand.
