To prevent damage to our relationships, it is important to regularly make room to ask ourselves two simple yet effective questions:

  1. What are you angry with me about?
  2. How have I scared you recently?

We are often unintentionally angering our partners by not living up to their expectations, and it is important to be able to express and hear this anger in a calm and understanding atmosphere. Fear can also erode trust, so it is important to be aware of how we may have scared our partners. We should not deny our relationships the maintenance they need, and we should be courageous enough to accept when we have caused an upset.
