Raise the voting age in this country from 18 to 25. Vivek Ramaswamy, running for president as a Republican, has expressed support for such a measure, but with the caveat that those aged 18 to 25 would still be able to vote if they pass a civics test, serve in the military, or are a first responder.

However, when looking at the views held by people in that age group, it’s clear why Republicans would want to limit their ability to vote. Among 18 to 29 year olds, three out of four say abortion should be legal in all or most cases, and two out of three of them say gun laws should be stricter. In the last presidential election, young people voted for the Republicans less than any other age group.

In light of this, it’s not surprising that Republicans have been attempting to limit students’ ability to vote. Idaho recently passed a law prohibiting the use of student IDs for voting, and Texas is trying to pass a law that would eliminate every campus polling place in the state.
